On October 31, 2025, Peadato Foundation took a bold step in the fight against breast cancer by organizing a Breast Cancer Awareness and Free Screening Project at Gyinase in the Asokwa Municipality of the Ashanti Region under the theme "Every Story is unique, Every
journey matters.” The outreach, held in collaboration with the Asokwa Municipal Health Directorate, brought together community members, health professionals, and volunteers with one shared goal—to promote early detection and save lives.
The event drew over 150 participants, mostly women from the Gyinase community, eager to learn more about breast health and to take advantage of the free screening opportunity. Through an engaging health talk, participants were educated on the causes, symptoms, and
prevention of breast cancer. Health professionals also demonstrated the correct steps for Breast Self-Examination (BSE), empowering attendees to take charge of their own health.
After the education session, participants underwent free breast screening conducted by skilled health workers. The screening helped identify over 30 individuals who showed signs that required further medical attention. These individuals were promptly referred to health facilities for follow-up care and management.
The atmosphere was filled with gratitude and relief as many women shared how the program had encouraged them to prioritize their health. For some, it was their first-ever breast screening experience. One participant noted, “I have always feared going for screening, but after today’s education, I feel more confident to check regularly. This program has truly been an eye-opener.”
The collaboration with the Asokwa Municipal Health Directorate was instrumental in ensuring professional screening and accurate medical guidance. The Directorate also commended Peadato Foundation for its commitment to improving community health and promoting early detection as a life-saving strategy. Speaking after the event, a representative of Peadato Foundation emphasized the organization’s continued dedication to empowering communities through education and accessible healthcare.
“At Peadato Foundation, we believe that awareness and early detection are powerful tools in saving lives. This initiative reflects our mission to ensure that no woman is left behind due to lack of access to health information or screening services,” they said.
The success of the Gyinase project reinforced the need for consistent community health outreaches. Peadato Foundation plans to extend similar initiatives to other communities, integrating screenings for other conditions such as cervical cancer, hypertension, and diabetes.
As the event concluded, smiles and heartfelt gratitude filled the air — a reminder that small acts of service can spark lasting impact. The Breast Cancer Awareness and Free Screening Project was more than just a health event; it was a message of hope, care, and empowerment for the Gyinase community.
Together, we can save lives.
Peadato Foundation expresses profound appreciation to the Asokwa Municipal Health Directorate, all health workers, volunteers, and the Gyinase community for making this outreach a success. Early detection saves lives — and at Peadato Foundation, we are committed to making that a reality for every woman.
