Kidney Initiative

Introduction

The Kidney Initiative, launched on November 24th, 2023, aims to provide support to patients suffering from kidney disease by assisting with their medical bills. This report outlines the progress of the initiative and the current status of the supported patients.

Understanding Kidney Disease

Kidney disease, also known as renal disease, occurs when the kidneys are damaged and unable to filter waste and excess fluids from the blood effectively. The kidneys play a vital role in maintaining overall health, and kidney disease can lead to serious complications if left untreated.

Causes of Kidney Disease

  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • Family history
  • Age
  • Obesity

Symptoms of Kidney Disease

  • Swelling in legs and feet
  • Fatigue
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Nausea and vomiting

Initiative Progress

Since its inception, the Kidney Initiative has been committed to alleviating the financial burden faced by kidney disease patients. We have successfully identified and supported two patients undergoing treatment for kidney-related ailments.

Patient Information

  • Patient 1:

    – Location: Deduako Teachers Quarters

    – Medical Care Provider: Akoma Specialist Care

    – Status: Deceased

  • Patient 2:

    – Location: Atonsu

    – Medical Care Provider: SDA Hospital

    – Status: Active

Initiative Activities

– Providing monthly allowances to the active patient to reduce financial strain associated with medical bills and related expenses

– Conducting regular check-ins and follow-ups to monitor the patient’s treatment progress

Patient Progress

The active patient has shown positive responses to treatment and is exhibiting signs of improvement. Continued support is essential for their full recovery.

Conclusion

The Kidney Initiative has made significant strides in supporting kidney disease patients. Unfortunately, we lost one patient, but we continue to support the remaining patient through monthly allowances and regular monitoring. We will continue our efforts to support kidney patients and explore additional avenues for assistance, working collaboratively with medical care providers and stakeholders to make a meaningful impact in the lives of kidney disease patients.
